The Nike Air Max 90 Premium "Mixtape Side A" was inspired what many consider to be the golden age of 1990s hip-hop mixtape culture. The "Side A" colorway of the Nike Air Max 90 preceded the release of the "Side B" design. Complete with a white mesh base that appears along the toe and ankle collar, the "Side A" Air Max 90 sports a light bone nubuck mudguard with light grey nubuck overlays starting from the ankle collar and extending down to the mid-panel and ending on the toe. Other key details include a yellow leather Swoosh hit that covers the mid-panel, contrasting yellow laces, and "Side A" printed in black on the tongue. White contrast stitching is located on the heel along with a white plastic heel cup with yellow Nike branding.
