The Jaden Smith x New Balance Vision Racer “Surplus” is a collaboration between the popular artist and New Balance on the hybrid shoe produced from environmentally conscious materials. Each pair of the “Surplus” was manufactured using various surplus materials from past New Balance releases, meaning every pair will look unique and will not necessarily match the colorway featured in these photos. Combining the New Balance 1700 and X-Racer, the Vision Racer features a thick white speckled EVA foam midsole that is separated into three blocks along the forefoot, midfoot, and heel. Grey mesh appears on the toe, mid-panel, and heel. Mismatching leather overlays and “N” branding contrast the neutral base on the left and right shoe. Classic white “NB” insignia is printed on the heel. As mentioned, the shoe is constructed using recycled materials from post-consumer goods.
